The on-demand music streaming application Imagine Radio was launched today in a gala event at DevoTech Technology Park, Gulshan 2. The leading band musicians of the industry, such as Feedback, Nemesis, Bappa Mazumder, Elita Karim, Vikings, Chirkutt, Indalo, Shironamhin, Aurthohin and Owned graced the launching event of the entertainment media startup to show their support.
Imagine Radio is a music app that allows music artistes to distribute their songs directly to listeners’ smart devices. Users can make their own playlist, while also designing them to a specific mood. The artistes will be paid royalty as per a mutual agreement between both parties. The more popular a track gets, the more royalty will be paid to the artiste.
The CEO of Imagine Radio Shahriar Shahid told Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “Imagine Radio’s goal is to offer the most unique music experience for users and establish musicians’ welfare. Imagine Radio’s app is artificially intelligent with smart recommendations and engagement capabilities.”
For the musicians’ Imagine Radio brings a range of unique services that includes per-stream royalty, dedicated dashboard for musicians and labels, music fan/audience analytics, dedicated profile section for musicians, marketing services and many more – all free for the musicians.
Imagine Radio will be available in 52 countries. For upcoming musicians, independent artistes and bands, Imagine Radio will act as a launch-pad for their musical career. Independent musicians will enjoy special services for album release, promotion, brand consultation, copyright and other related areas.
For users, Imagine Radio provides more than 10 million local and international music tracks and thousands of playlists by moods, lifestyle, activities, etc, all made by music specialists. Moreover, Imagine Radio’s Smart Recommendations system will help users pick the right music for the right time.
Mohaiminul Haque Khan of the band Bangla Motorr told Showtime: “I think this is a good initiative as this will get the music to the listeners. That is the most important thing for us musicians - ensuring that our music is heard by the people.”
Bappa Mazumder also came to the launch and performed an encore for everyone present. Bappa was asked whether platforms like Imagine Radio will resolve the persistent conflicts over royalty. He replied: “This is definitely a good initiative; however, this is not the only way. I think a discussion needs to begin about this on a policy level. Having said that, I appreciate what Imagine Radio is trying to do.”

When asked if Bappa will put his own music on the app he replied with enthusiasm, “Why not?”
Imagine Radio’s founders are Chairman Raihan Shamsi, CEO Shahriar Shahid and COO Ahmed Rakib. All three of them demonstrated many features of the app and its platform at the launch, where they also answered questions from the media.
Imagine Radio apps are available in Android and iOS platforms and it is free for users. Soon a full featured desktop application will be launched.
