Joy Bangla concert is back again this year to commemorate the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Organised by Young Bangla and Center for Research and Information, the concert is being arranged for the third time this year. Keeping with the tradition from the previous years, nine leading bands participating in the show were set to perform their own rendition of ‘Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’ songs along with their own materials.
Prominent heavy metal band Cryptic Fate was performing at the time of writing this report. The crowd sang along with the band and greeted every song with deafening cheers. With 60,000 expected attendance, the huge Army Stadium was nearly filled at half past four with approximately 10,000 more waiting outside in the queue.

Some were disheartened and left after standing cramped in the long line that started from the main entrance of the stadium and went down to the Navy Headquarters, where the line was turned back towards the stadium and another long row was created parallel to the main line.
Robin from Jahangirnagar University came with nine friends to see the show. “We are waiting for 3 hours in the line,” said a tired but smiling Robin. Back inside the packed stadium, people were enjoying the show and celebrating the joyous gathering by taking a lot of photos. Audience members in the gallery and in the field were seen taking selfies with friends and family. Two grandchildren of Bangabandhu, Saima Wazed Putul and Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, were seen enjoying Cryptic Fate’s performance from their reserved space in the front row.
Cryptic Fate ended their performance with the fiery “Akromon”, a song about the guerrilla attacks by the freedom fighters in 1971. The concert was set to go on until 10pm with performances from Chirkutt, Spandan, Lalon, Shunno, Arbovirus, Nemesis, Shironamhin and Warfaze.
