Popular actress and film producer Meher Afroz Shaon on Friday afternoon lodged a general diary with Dhanmondi police station against Bunty Mir, who resides in America.
Shaon, the wife of deceased writer and director Humayun Ahmed, and Dhanmondi police both confirmed this to Dhaka Tribune on Friday evening.
Dhanmondi Police Station’s on-duty officer Probationary Sub Inspector Joynul Abedin said: “Shaon came to the police station with some of her relatives and lodged the GD around 3:45pm on Friday.”
She said: “Bunty Mir is continuously spreading ugly, false and baseless words and rumours about me through social media sites like Facebook and Youtube.”
“My social reputation is being tarnished because of these heinous activities. I don’t know this person and I have no personal, family or business relations or even any contact with him,” she said.
Fearing the person may conduct such actions to fulfil his self-interest, Shaon told police she would lodge a case in accordance with the law if she faces any danger in the future and urged police to look into the matter seriously.
PSI Joynul Abedin said they are investigating the allegation.
