Emily Ratajkowski defends Melania Trump

The Gone Girl cameo star tweeted, “Sat next to a journalist from the NYT last night who told me ‘Melania is a hooker.’” “Whatever your politics it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should,” she added. “Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bullshit,” she wrote further. In response, the New York Times said in a statement claiming that the reporter in question does not cover politics for the paper, and that the comment had allegedly been in reference to the unfounded rumour started by the Daily Mail, that the first lady once worked for a modelling agency that doubled as an escort service. In the meantime, Melania Trump herself noticed Ratajkowski’s tweets, and took to Twitter to acknowledge them by writing, “Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up, and support other women!”
