An Indian Supreme Court lawyer, Runa Bhayan, has filed a complaint against popular singer, composer and reality TV show judge Papon, accusing him of kissing a minor girl.
In her complaint, the lawyer mentioned about a video where the singer is seen celebrating Holi with the contestants of the TV reality show. Towards the end of the video, he kisses a minor girl after applying colours on her face, reports Indian Express.
Bhayan filed complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, stating that the singer has committed “sexual assault on the minor girl”.
“I am shocked to see the behaviour of the said singer Angarag Papon Mahanta towards a minor girl where he is seen to be applying colours on a minor girl and inappropriately kissing the said girl. On seeing the video, I am seriously concerned regarding the safety and security of minor girls participating in reality shows across India,” the complainant stated.
However, when contacted by local media outlets, the father of the minor girl said “it was just a moment of affection that is being portrayed otherwise.”
“Papon sir is a mentor and a father figure to my daughter and has always encouraged her to pursue her dreams. He doesn’t differentiate amongst the children who are here and gives them equal guidance on pursuing their dreams. What you saw in the video is not intentional,” Indian Express reports quoting the father.
