Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’ to hit screens in April

Update : 11 Feb 2018, 10:58 PM
After “Kabali,” Pa Ranjith’s second movie with Tamil star Rajinikanth, “Kaala,” will be out on April 27. Actor-producer Dhanush on Saturday announced the release date of Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film “Kalaa.” Sharing a new poster of the film, Dhanush, who is bankrolling the most-awaited project, said the film will hit the screens on April 27, which was originally earmarked for “2.0.” Set in the backdrop of Mumbai, Kaala is a gangster drama film revolving around Rajinikanth's character, who runs away from Tirunelveli in his childhood to Mumbai and becomes a powerful don living in the slums of Dharavi. He is Kaala to those who oppose him, and it is also a reference to his colour. The film also boasts of an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani and Pankaj Tripathi among others. The announcement of the release date has increased speculation that the other big Rajinikanth movie of the year, Shankar’s “2.0,” will not be released in mid-April after all. The sequel to Shankar’s science-fiction movie “Enthiran” involves numerous visual effects, which has apparently led to a delay in its completion. “2.0” stars Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar alongside Rajinikanth. “Kaala” has been produced by Wunderbar Films, which is owned by Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush.
