When Shabnur started her journey in the 90s, no one thought she’d light up the waning world of Bangladeshi cinema like her name suggests; “Shab” meaning night and “Noor” meaning light. With her glamour and a ceaseless supply of blockbusters like “Dui Noyoner Alo,” “Shujon Shokhi,” “Shopner Thikana” and “Biyer Ful,” Shabnur reached the apex of success. Although she now resides in Australia, she recently flew back to finish her film “Pagol Manush.”
Shaher Khan, will star opposite Shabnur in this film. Khan expressed his excitement about working with the actor of his dreams.
The director, M. M. Sarkar died before completing the film on December 29, 2012. Director Bodiul Alam Khokon finished the shooting in 2016. Shabnur expressed her profound respect for the late director in an interview to a local press.
When asked whether it was the director’s death or her absence from the film industry that dragged the shooting for so long, Shabnur said, “I don’t think I was the reason why the shooting was delayed. A lot of issues arise when there’s a gap (in shooting schedule). It’s hard to match everyone’s schedule.”
She commented on her silver screen comeback saying, “I know many of my fans didn’t go to the cinemas all these years. I want them to come back to the theaters and watch this film.”
She said she watches everyone’s films in the theater because “watching a film on the big screen is more fun.”
Shabnur said she’s prepping herself to make a steady comeback in Dhallywood. She said she plans to sit on the director’s chair someday when she’s ready.
“Pagol Manush,” which started shooting in 2011, will be released next Friday.
