Young filmmaker Zayed Siddiki’s new short film “Purnograsher Kal” (Tale of an Ecliptic Time) will star Jayanta Chattopadhyay as Bhashkar Chowdhury, a painter and writer in the film.
The story revolves around the protagonist’s notebook, which is depicted as a document of society’s inconsistencies. The notebook mysteriously disappears one day and reappears by itself. The day the writer gets his notebook back, militants come to kill him but they lose against his unarmed defence.
The main concept and screenplay was written by the director himself, while the story was penned by Helal Mohiuddin. According to the director, the short film will have a runtime of 35 minutes.
Apart from the lead role, Chattopadhyay is also the executive producer of the project. Extended cast members include Kamal Ahmed, Moniruzzaman Moni, Koushik Saha, Abid Azad, Fatematuz Zohra, Hira Chakma and Khandakar Badrul Alam.
The film recently completed its shooting, with Pantha Rahman behind the camera, while it is currently being edited by Sameer Ahmed.
The sound was collected, designed and mixed by Nahid Masud, while Shantanu Halder was the art director for the film
The director said, in a statement, that the film will be complete within December and will be released on different platforms, both locally and internationally in 2018.
“Purnograsher Kal” will be produced under Homo Reflector Production banner and distributed by a Bangladeshi film enthusiast platform called Cinemotion.
