“Arman Bhai” has turned into an iconic character for the television screen. Director Sagar Jahan created the character and made two 6 episode TV drama series- “Arman Bhai The Gentleman” and “Arman Bhai Honeymoon E”- as well as 5 single episode tele-dramas and tele-films. Zahid Hasan has starred as Arman Bhai in all of these projects.
In 2012, the actor declared that he would not reprise the role of “Arman Bhai” on the small screen anymore, but said he remained open to the possibility if the character gets his own feature film. That same day, the team of the widely popular and celebrated Bangladeshi TV franchise agreed to the pitch and said that they would make such a film, and it would be directed by Sagar Jahan.
Recently, Sagar told the press that he is going to direct the film, but in 2019.
Sagar Jahan explained that his father, music composer and music director Anwar Jahan, and his two uncles, Filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhontu and Iftekhar Jahan, had given him some advice on filmmaking.
Following their suggestions, Sagar has decided not to debut his filmmaking career with his own signature character, but rather with an original story.
Sagar Jahan also said that he is preparing himself for filmmaking though currently busy with his new TV dramas. He will introduce a new story for “Arman Bhai” into his second film, planned for 2019, and confirmed that Zahid Hasan will play the role of the celebrated character.
After the widely praised “Arman Bhai,” Sagar made a similar series of TV dramas and tele-films with another signature character of his, “Sikandar Box.” The character, played by Mosharraf Karim, has also become very popular.
