Srishti-Meena Bazar Classical Dance Festival begins from November 1

Dance organisation Srishti Cultural Centre and Meena Bazar are set to jointly organise a four-day classical dance event titled "Srishti-Meena Bazar Dance Drama Festival 2017" from November 1 to 4. Srishti Director and dancer Anisul Islam Hero made the announcement at a press conference on Monday. Noted dancer and choreographer Shamim Ara Nipa, ULAB Student Affairs Avisor and Communication Juditha Ohlmacher, Meena Bazar CEO Shaheen Khan, Head of operation at Kazi & Kazi Tea Asma ul Roxana, ULAB academician of English Department Prof Shamsad Mortuza, CHRO of Gemcon Group and CEO of Meena Sweets Sayeed Ahmed were present at the conference, among others. Anisul Islam hero said that four dance dramas – Tasher Desh of Rabindrath Tagore, Rai Krishna Padabali of Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Alibaba and Forty Thieves based Badi-Bandar Rupkatha, and Mymensingha Geetika - will be held at the National Theatre Stage, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Shamim Ara Nipa thanked Gemcon Group and their sister organisations for the sponsoring and arranging of the festival. The ticket prices will vary from Tk100 to 500, depending on the age and capability of buyers, while Tk100 has been fixed for student tickets. Tickets will be available at all Meena Bazar outlets in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Dhanmondi. Anyone who visits for the first three days of the festival will get free entry on the fourth day. Entrance for the media is free. The Srishiti Cultural Academy was founded on January 1, 1994, by Anisul Islam Hero. Pioneering the use of Bharatanatyam classical and modern dance alongside traditional Bangladeshi forms, Srishti strives to promote awareness of social issues such as Women's Rights, the Environment, and HIV/AIDS.
