But is Yami getting type cast? Because in the four years that she’s been part of Bollywood, Yami Gautam has ended up playing the same role thrice — that of a brutalized wife, who is so missed by the hero, that he goes on a vendetta spree and seeks revenge.
After playing Ajay Devgn’s tortured, comatose wife in Action Jackson, and Varun Dhawan’s deceased wife in Badlapur, Yami is set to reprise the role in Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil, where she plays Hrithik’s late wife.
Apparently doing well in her profession, Yami Gautam has recently bought a house in her home state, Himachal Pradesh. A 100-year-old heritage home set on a 25-acre estate. The actress can’t wait to take her 'nani' to her second home in February.
“For me a home is more of an emotional connect than a property investment. Even though I grew up in Chandigarh, I would go to my nani’s place near Shimla every year during the summer holidays and some of my happiest memories are rooted there and is the reason I want to be a child again. It was always a special place, even the air felt different, and since a car is still a luxury in those parts, I remember taking the auto-rickshaw or mostly walking for hours to a relative’s home, singing songs and sometimes sliding down a hill for a shortcut. During winters, everyone would gather on the terrace—some knitting, some cooking and some playing with us children,” she reminisces.
It is a dream come true for the actress who is gearing up for her 2017 Republic Day release, the revenge-drama, Kaabil, also featuring Hrithik Roshan.
