After months of unmitigated disputes and wrangles among the Dhallywood film artists, Bangladesh Chalachitra Shilpi Samiti has decided to send nine show cause notices to some of the leading artists of the industry, including Moushumi, Kazi Hayat, Omar Sani, Bidya Sinha Mim, Sadek Bacchu, Shiba Shanu, Kabila, Kala Aziz and Bobby. The artists were asked to show proper reasons for activities that violate the constitution of the organisation, said Jayed Khan, the general secretary of the artists’ coalition.
Chalachitra Paribar, a union of 18 different film related organisations, previously banned Shakib Khan indefinitely, for making allegedly derogatory comments about film directors and declared that any other member of the organisation working with Shakib Khan will also face the same fate. Seemingly the show cause notices were sent to the artists for not heeding the warning.
In an urgent meeting held on Thursday, the organisation also decided to permanently ban two other members, Kamal and Zakir Hossain, while halting the membership of fight director Delower Hossain Chunnu for three months.
Jayed Khan informed that the letters will be issued to the recipients on Saturday. When asked about the relevance of the ‘Shakib Khan issue’ with the action they are taking against the artists, Jayed Khan simply said, “The decision has been taken by the executive panel of the Samiti because they have infringed the constitution.”
