Grameenphone on Tuesday announced that it will launch 3G service for the customers in the first half of October.
A press conference was held to make the announcement after the company’s acquisition of 3G spectrum in an auction held on Sunday last. GP is planning to give 3G coverage in selected areas of Dhaka and Chittagong cities by October, said a press release.
Seven divisional cities will be brought under coverage by December while Narayangonj and Gazipur will get the service by November.
The company said it will introduce affordable 3G packages to meet the demand of its different customer segments.
GP’s CEO Vivek Sood stressed the opportunities offered by 3G, such as fast internet. He hoped people will use the service to meet their own aspiration and build a developed country. “Grameenphone will do its best to make 3G available to all,” said Vivek Sood.
