University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) launched a comprehensive campus sustainability programme titled “Greening ULAB” on its campus in the capital yesterday.
It began with the official launch of paper recycling programme with Bashundhara Paper Mill. The university handed over the first consignment of around two tonnes of papers and paper materials to the mill for recycling.
The Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) of ULAB is implementing the programme with active participation of students, faculty members and administration. In April, the action plan of Greening ULAB was presented at the Regional Conference on Campus Sustainability held in Malaysia, where ULAB received international accolades, especially for its initiatives on energy conservation and waste recycling.
Among others, Vice-Chancellor Prof Imran Rahman, Pro-VC Prof HM Jahirul Haque, Registrar Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam, faculty members, officials, students and other guests were present at the ceremony.
The project is part of ULAB’s commitment to instil socio-environmental values in its students, administration, faculty members and the broader community. It aims at making the university’s operation more sustainable and environment-friendly.
