A tree plantation programme has been started on the Dhaka University campus yesterday with joint collaboration of Arbory Cultural Bureau and University Plantation and beautification committee.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the program and addressed the programme as chief guest.
Mentioning tree plantation as a social movement, the VC said: "We have to continue the programme and ensure the proper care of the planted trees."
He also urged everyone to prevent tree destruction for a healthy environment and to make the tree plantation movement a success.
Earlier, the VC commenced the program, planting a "Shornochura" tree near the university's administrative building. l
