In a bid to empower local manufacturers and entrepreneurs, Alibaba’s global platform organized a workshop on cross-border e-commerce business and exports.

The event, titled “Trading Beyond Border,” was jointly conducted by Alibaba’s Bangladesh channel partner, SkyTech Solutions, and the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-Cab) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in the capital.

Approximately 250 e-commerce manufacturers and entrepreneurs actively participated in the workshop, seeking insights into leveraging Alibaba’s expansive platform for global outreach.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Saidur Rahman, director of e-CAB, who emphasized the opportunities for remittances and discussed the potential of exporting products from domestic e-commerce entrepreneurs on an international scale.

Rahman also shed light on cross-border e-commerce policies during his address.

Following the welcome, Kamrul Hasan, head of digital marketing at SkyTech, delved into the intricacies of expanding a local business globally.

He compared the dynamics of the local and international markets, elucidated the steps involved in exporting goods, and highlighted essential aspects such as marketing, logistics support, and company registration.

Hasan shared success stories of entrepreneurs who successfully exported their products to prominent global platforms like Alibaba, eBay, and Amazon, providing valuable insights.

In the subsequent session, Faisal Dolan discussed the process of commencing a business through Alibaba.

He detailed the benefits of Alibaba membership, elucidated the steps to open an account or store, create a storefront, upload products, manage a store, find buyers, and secure orders.

Nasri Ma, Alibaba’s Business Manager for Bangladesh, delivered the keynote speech, providing an overview of Alibaba’s sister concerns - Alibaba, Taobao, and Alipay.

He highlighted the business expansion opportunities through Alibaba’s Business-to-Business (B2B) platform.

The workshop concluded with a speech by Musnad Ahmed, CEO of SkyTech Solutions, who announced the organization’s commitment to providing comprehensive services for businesses looking to utilize Alibaba’s platform.

SkyTech pledged to conduct more workshops and one-to-one sessions for workshop participants interested in exporting their products through Alibaba, offering support for account opening, company registration, payment assistance, and store management.

The initiative aims to empower Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to tap into the global market and enhance cross-border trade opportunities.
