Go Green Bangladesh, a green company from Bangladesh, has been chosen as the circular economy category winner of the ClimateLaunchpad 2022 Asia Pacific Regional finals, the largest green business concept competition in the world.

The Asia Pacific Regional Final was held virtually on September 22 and was attended by a total of 41 startups from Kazakhstan, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore, New Zealand, Philippines and Vietnam, reads a press release issued on Tuesday.

Go Green Bangladesh received the esteemed award for their creative approach to non-valuable solid wastes such as single-use plastic, polythene, linen and face masks which typically ended up in landfills, agricultural lands, canals, rivers and seas, contaminating the environment.

The startup wants to create eco-friendly bricks and blocks that will be evaluated at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology using this sustainable invention. The strength of bricks and blocks created from waste is double that of bricks made from clay. For building floors, pavements and roads, this brick or block can be utilized as an excellent substitute for traditional brick or block.

Fazlur Rahman Raju, founder of Go Green Bangladesh, said: “Go Green Bangladesh’s main mission is to solve the waste problem by turning them into valuable products. As part of the mission we make bricks and blocks downcycling plastic wastes.”

Go Green Bangladesh will represent Bangladesh in the 2022 ClimateLaunchpad Global Grand Final, which will take place in the final week of October and the first week of November.

Since 2019, the firm has been aiming to offer environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic products, and it has launched a number of bamboo and jute-made products in the Bangladesh market. ClimateLaunchpad, which is based in the Netherlands, is the biggest green business ideas competition in the world. It taps into the global cleantech market's potential to combat climate change. It is a component of EIT Climate-Entrepreneurship KIC's programs as well.
