Persistently telling our people about correct health safety protocols could be more helpful and meaningful than just following a semi-lockdown like situation.
Irrespective of their position -- rich or poor -- most people are now eager to come out -- no matter what may happen to them.
And meanwhile, almost two months straight into a captive condition (call it lockdown or whatever), most people are now also in pretty desperate need for a livelihood to survive.
Under the present situation and in the light of the ground realities, I think it would be a much better option and more effective way forward if we could simply focus our energies on ensuring that our people follow the health safety standards and measures religiously.
We can slowly adjust ourselves to living with the challenges unleashed by Covid-19 and we just have to do that over the next couple of months -- as there is no other realistic choice to make.
Meantime, as more time passes by, it also seems increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to just ask and order people to stay at home or keep their lives at a standstill position any more.
We have observed over the last couple of days that a serious sense of insecurity is also pushing the poorer section of the society, to disobey the rules and make frantic attempts to stay out or head off to their respective village homes, while some people are even trying to make it to the cities as well, in a reverse drive.
The whole situation is only getting out of hand, as we can see. Therefore, let us educate ourselves more on health challenges and the safely protocols.
Since we just have to live with the fear of the coronavirus pandemic for yet a couple of months until a proven drug or vaccine is in place, we can keep recommending to our people, by using the digital technology and tools including the electronic media, to genuinely help each of them with the necessary health safely guidelines -- both at home or outdoors.
This might be the best solution available to us, or at least the most realistic.
