Despite unlimited potential, the agricultural sector has unfortunately been falling behind for as long as one can remember. This is especially unfortunate given the fact that both the geographical and weather conditions of the country are perfect for agriculture.
As such, the recent collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan to uplift the agricultural sector is hopefully a step in the right direction. The collaboration especially makes sense given the fact that in terms of weather conditions and produce; both Bangladesh and Japan have a lot of similarities that we can build on.
With the advent of the 21st century and increased industrialization, the sector has unfortunately continued to see further decline; also not helping is the fact that more and more agricultural and forest land is being lost to industry.
However, there have been efforts to uplift the sector. Local authorities have been steadily investing in new seeds and technologies to aid agriculture. The recent deal also promises high quality seeds along with access to international markets.
If the current collaboration bears fruit, we can expect to see more of this. We also need to continuously invest in local efforts to boost agriculture. A better future for our agricultural sector is possible. We just need to put in the effort.
