A nation’s overall progress often hinges on how well it maintains diplomatic ties with other sovereign entities. The fact that Bangladesh and the UAE have agreed to further cement the existing bilateral ties between both nations can only be a good sign about the overall state of our diplomacy.
Bangladesh has had a long-standing relationship with the gulf country owing to the huge contribution Bangladesh provides towards such nations’ labour force. On that note, elevating this long-standing relationship would not only be lucrative, but it stands to greatly impact diplomatic ties between our nations as well, which can only result in further opportunities of investment in Bangladesh.
UAE has stressed the importance of increasing Emirates flights between the two countries, which has prompted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to say that the government is now constructing a third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with that goal in mind. She has also added that the UAE has plenty of other trade and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
This would be a great start to reinvigorate this partnership.
Not only is the fact that our aviation industry is getting a boost by leveraging this relationship, but further increasing trade relationships also means well for Bangladesh’s overall economy, and we can hope that this will lead to not only the export of more skilled manpower in a safe way, but we can also export professionals with specific skills who can further enhance the remittance inflow for the country.
This is a step that deserves praise. Bangladesh is so far showing a brilliant track record when it comes to improving diplomatic negotiations not only with our immediate neighbours but also other nations. Our economy is growing stronger, and the world order is changing. With that, we have good scopes to elevate our status.
