Syed Amdadul Huq, director (Admin and Finance) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, told the Dhaka Tribune that they had already allotted spaces to 24 companies in the park premises.
The Hi-Tech Park Authority expects Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to inaugurate the Software Technology Park once completed.
The park is located in a green coloured 15-storey steel composite building with a total floor area of 232,000 sq-ft, at 14,500 sq-ft per floor. A total of 10,000 IT professionals can work at the park simultaneously.
Aside from the 15-storey MTB building, the park contains a 12 storey dormitory building. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, the government will set up a 33 KVA power substation as well as a 2,000 Kilowatt generator.
Industry insiders said the park will greatly benefit software development, tech-related freelancing, call centres, and the research and development sector. Those involved in the aforementioned areas also have the opportunity to invest in the park.
On December 27, 2010, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that the state-of-the-art IT park would be established while she was inaugurating Jessore Science and Technology University.
The government started the construction of the technology park, which is expected to create around 20,000 jobs, on April 25, 2014.
