Lifestyle retail chain Aarong—recognized for connecting distinctive items with an urban sensibility— celebrated its 40th founding anniversary last week, from October 25-27. The event titled ‘Aarong 40 years Festival’ was fundamentally centred around our nation’s rich legacy and showcased beautiful artworks and other high-quality items. The three-day festivities consisted of displays of handmade items, workshops, an award giving ceremony, a concert and the eagerly awaited fashion show.
Day one
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the occasion as chief guest. BRAC Originator and Chairperson Fazle Hasan Abed and different authorities of BRAC and Aarong were present to join in on the celebration. The audience at the festival enjoyed live craft demonstrations and took part in workshops with artisans from around the country at 11 different craft exhibits.
It was an event to appreciate craftspeople and business visionaries around the nation. There were 40 prizes for 40 different sectors to commend artisans on their remarkable commitment and stunning work. Later, live performances of globally-acclaimed vocalist Runa Laila and baul musician Shahjahan Munshi mesmerized the audience with outstanding performances on the main day of celebration.
