Summer is almost here, so are the humidity and the fatigue from everyday Dhaka hubbub. The city will swelter, as it always does, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a delicious bite in this stifling. In fact, the long hours of daylight and warm days and nights demand a de-stressing environment with a relaxed meal, followed by a couple of leisurely drinks.
So, if you are looking for a resort to get rid of the weariness while also grabbing a bite, we just happen to know the perfect place for you.
Ajo Idea Space, the dynamic space for gourmet cooking and innovative ideas, is there to give you a best-of-both-worlds experience. Right in the heart of Uttara, the restaurant has become one of the main attractions for the Dhakaites in search of a diner that provides the perfect heat-beating summer ambiance.
Adjacent to the park and lake at Uttara 13 and away from the whistles of Dhaka traffic, the double-decked bended steel skeleton is exquisitely coupled with a verdant garden that makes it all the more appealing. The Idea Space decorated with wooden furniture, suspended lighting, offers a you menu full of dishes ‘prepared with the finest ingredients and most importantly, love.'
Their many quirky hot and cold beverages come with equally innovative names. Consider 'Dui Poyshar Alta' (a mixture of orange, pineapple, watermelon, soda and sugar), 'Golapi Ekhon Glasse (watermelon and sugar), or even 'Sobuj Sathi' (green mango) etc. Sitting out on the sun-dappled patio with one of these in hand is enough to soothe you minutes in any hot summer day.
However, despite being an eatery, Ajo is beyond just serving food. The restaurant celebrated its first anniversary on March 10 this year, and one year into their operation in Uttara, the owner of the restaurant, Khalid Mahmud, is planning to further diversify the functions of Ajo as a platform, “We are always working to make it better, not just in terms of the food it serves, rather to establish it as a platform for the intellectual growth, innovation and social engagement of our guests, which obviously is grounded in the essentials of good food and good vibes,” he said.
“On the occasion of Ajo's one year birthday, we decided to make the top deck of Ajo Idea Space open to every creative mind around the city. We welcome any and all sorts of events that involve creativity and innovation. Be it a poetry reading session, or a book launch event, if it’s creative, we are there for you.”
To the delight of the coffee lovers, they have also introduced a wide array of coffee recently. A must on the nice menu featuring a wide range of snick snacks, meals and deserts, is the signature Ajo Steak.
For all its elegance and delicacy, the place is surprisingly reasonable and the rate of a meal in Ajo ranges from Tk150 to Tk800.
To end on a high note, if you are a music lover you have all the more reasons to give Ajo a visit. Because on March 23, the eatery will feature famous musician Farzana Wahid Shayan live on their top deck, which will be followed by a jazz evening with Robert Russell Trio on April 8.
