Given its wildfire success, it seems hard to imagine that House of Ahmed, the brainchild of Ahmed Tuhin Reza and his wife Tanzila Elma opened its doors just a few months ago. With the wedding season settling in, business is booming, as fashionistas flock to their store to pick up their zardosi-bedecked offerings for both sexes. The brand’s signature regal look has won over a loyal fan following.
Avenue T catches up with Ahmed Tuhin Reza to discuss the duo’s vision for their current wedding collection

What are you planning for the wedding season?
We've already had a massive campaign focusing on the theme of destination weddings and showcasing our beautiful and picturesque "Beautiful Bangladesh,". When you think "destination wedding" there is a tendency to think of international locations. We wanted to focus on the beautiful high tea gardens of Sylhet and how you can always have a destination wedding in the country in many of our idyllic districts. We wanted colour and variety to embrace a newer generation of bold grooms and brides that are willing to experiment and play a little when it comes to their selection of wedding couture for their special day! Our line-up of lahengas and sherwanis are all different and unique, each in their own way, thanks to our special local artisans and their craftsmen-ship.
Describe your collection in three words.
Difficult to do so! However, if I had to describe our collection in three words, it would be; “premium”, “modern,” and “à la mode”
Are you leaning towards a particular colour palette for this season?
If you notice my collection of exclusive muslin hand-painted as well as zardosi sareees, you'll notice a multitude of diverse and fun colour combinations, when it comes to the pairing of blouses and sarees. I always try to find what I would personally like, at first, in choosing a colour combination, and then second, think about how my clientele would receive it. The same is said, when it comes to sherwanis.

What fabrics do you prefer working with and any signature fabrics are there that you use?
We mostly specialize in muslin, raw silk, premium cotton, katan, and other luxe fabrics. However, we often find it best to work with organic fabrics like raw silk and cotton.
What inspired your wedding collection?
A tribute to our culture and homeland. The vibrancy of colours reflect the cultural vintage dialects of our homeland as well as captivate a premium line-up of wedding couture for every occasion from holuds, weddings to even receptions and engagements. Whether you're the guests or bridesmaids or even the groom and bride yourself, you'll always find the look at House of Ahmed.
Who is a House of Ahmed man?
A man, who is on the lookout for nothing short of exceptional. My ideal client is confident, and embraces a uniqueness that no one except he can carry. He always look debonair wearing HOA, in every room he walks into.
What is your fashion advice for guys this wedding season?
My love for coatees is eternal. I think a unique and classy panjabi along with a premium coatee, is a combination that never goes wrong, if you're attending festive occasions and weddings.
