Aranyak to premiere Swapnopothik on Friday

Popular theatre troupe Aranyak will premiere its newest play Swapnopothik on Friday at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 7pm.

The touching play is based on the Savar tragedy that snatched normalcy from the lives of a staggering number of people. Key factors that led to the tragedy will be shown through performances, set in the backdrop of the innovative set design and a heartwarming script.

The misdemeanors of factory owners who built illegal death traps, politicians bribed to look the other way and large retailers hiding behind policies that deem them untouchable are portrayed in the production. The tragic tale of the victims, their rescue and the role of police and media will also be shown in an adept manner.

The play is written by Harun Rashid and directed by thespian Mamunur Rashid. Thandu Raihan is the light designer of the production, set designing was done by Foyez Zahir and renowned dancer Warda Rihab, who is the director of Dhriti Nartanalaya, is in charge of the choreography.  The cast of the production is comprised of popular theatre actors Mamunur Rashid, Momena Chowdhury, Tamalika Karmaker, Arif Ahmed Apel, Abu Hasib Masuduzzaman, Chitra Chobi, Shaju, Kamrul, Monir Zaman. Almost fifty actors of Aranyak will act in the massive production that tells a heartbreaking tale of the incident that brought devastation and loss upon thousands of life.
