Films by female filmmakers take over today’s programme

Sixteen films will be screened today at different venues across the capital.

The films cover six categories -“Retrospective,” “Cinema of the World,” “Children’s Film, “Women Filmmakers,” “Short and Independent Films Section,” and “Spiritual Films Section.” The festival features a competition in three categories- Asian and Australian and those of the six segments.

From three sections, Australasian Competition, Women Filmmaker, and Children Section, five films will be screened at the Public Library auditorium - The Rooster Trademark Paper directed by Maryam Milani at 10am, Bardou directed by Seyed Hadi Mohaghegh at 1pm, Parviz directed by Majid Barzegar at 3pm, Rupkatha Noy (Not a Fairy Tale) directed by Atanu Ghosh at 5:30pm and Ekstra directed by Jeffrey Jeturian at 7:30pm.

In the Australasian Competition category, four films will be screened at the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, Rupkotha Noy (Not a Fairy Tale) directed by  Atanu Ghosh at 10am, The Blindfold directed by Garin Nugroho at 12pm, Mot directed by Hobin Seo at 3pm and Siri Perakum  (The Crown From Mud) directed by Dr Somaratne Dissanayake at 5pm.

Seven films will be screened from the Women Filmmaker category at EMK Centre–Josh (Against The Grain) directed by Ms Iram Parveen Bilal at 10am, The Social Game directed by Seng Maiand, And Nothing Around directed by Marta Prus, Aldona directed by Emilija Skarnulyte, and The Dark Outside directed by Darin J Sallam from 12pm to 3pm, A Life Suspended directed by Kazuyo Minamide, and Demi Ucok directed by Sammaria  Simanjuntak from 3pm to 5pm.
