Dolan Kanungo presents instrumental music with Mohan Veena

Dolan Kanungo, Chittagong based Bangladeshi musician will perform today at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at 6:30pm. The show requires no ticket and is open for all audience. Dolan Kanungo, an outstanding Mohan Veena player, has earned an enviable distinction amongst younger musicians in the realm of Hindustani classical music in Bangladesh.

Born in 1965 at Kanungopara in Chittagong in a traditional family of educationalists and musicians, Kanungo was initiated to music by Shri Amal Mitra in the year 1980. He subsequently trained under musical stalwarts like Shri Debobrata Hore, Shri Babul Kanti Dey, Pandit Sunil Ganguly, Ustad Nirod Baran Barua, Ustad Rowsan Jamal Bharatiya and Ustad Abed Hossain Khan.

Dolon Kanungo considers himself to be a disciple of Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhatt, a Grammy award winning musician and the creator of the musical instrument Mohan Veena.

He is a special grade artiste of the Bangladesh Betar and Television and frequently performs in classical music concerts in home and abroad. He has performed in several cultural programs organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka, Suddha Sangeet Prasar Gosti (Dhaka), Sangeet Bhaban, Sadarang , Hindol (Rajshahi), National Classical Conference (Sylhet), Charu Shilpi Sammelon, Alauddin Academy, Sruti Lalitakala, and Lakhapar (Narayangonj) in Bangladesh.
