Update : 13 Jul 2013, 02:35 PM

After becoming the champion of “Incursion Battle of the Bands 2011,” Minerva has come up with their debut album “Biday Shongbidhan.” The album has been launched on July 12 at the Incursion headquarter. Dhaka Tribune caught up with the promising band that consists of: Ishtiak Tanvir Ishmi (vocalist), Sultan Rafsan Khan (guitarist), Injamamul Haque Galib (guitarist), Nayeel Risat (bassist),Tawfiq Ahmed Bijoy ( drummer).

What does “Biday Shongbidhan” stand for? Here Shongbidhan (constitution) symbolises the prevailing customs, morals and rules of the society. Most of these are, as we feel and observe, are obstacles for the youths to express themselves on their own way. With the title we want to convey that we bid goodbye to the so called rigid rules and regulations and want to break free.

How long did it take to launch the album? The band was formed around four years ago. We have written, composed, arranged and jammed the songs in different points of time. But we recorded the songs for last one year and finally launched it.

What genre does it specify? We experiment with groove metal, mixture of heavy and thrash metal.

What responses have you got at the launching ceremony? The response was very much positive. The launching programme was packed with audience. We received remarkable comments. Many of our fans said that we are the next Artcell.

What is the story behind the name “Minerva”? Minerva is a Roman goddess. She is the virgin goddess of warriors, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, crafts and, last but not least, inventor of music. We considered it as it shares our constant thrives to redefine music in Bangladesh band music. Our lead guitarist Rafsan came up with the name and the rest of the members welcomed it.
