Bangladesh has experienced light to moderate rainfall in different places, including the coastal districts, as an effect of cyclone Hudhud that hit India yesterday.
Some low-lying areas of the coastal districts including Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Barguna, Sathkhira and Khulna and their off-shore islands were also inundated slightly.
The light to moderate rainfall might continue till noon today, said its Meteorological Department yesterday, adding that nothing that the downpour will not be serious.
The met office advised all four maritime ports Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal three, reasoning that the bay has been rough as an impact of the cyclone.
It also asked all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay to remain in shelter until advised otherwise.
The very severe cyclone storm, Hudhud, hit Indian state’s Andhra Pradesh coast at 4pm yesterday and gradually went over the adjoining state Odissa coast.
According to BBC online, Hudhud is pounding the eastern Indian coast, causing extensive damage and prompting the evacuation of some 350,000 people. At least three people have been killed in Andhra Pradesh and three in Orissa.
