"Facebook has employees who understand what type of Bangla content is being uploaded. Bangladesh is a secular country, and we have sensitive social values. Social networking sites like Facebook should develop their policies keeping that in mind," she said.
Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the workshop which was organised by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisations (CTO) in collaboration with Posts and Telecommunication Division and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) PID"But as many of the contact details of the Facebook accounts we track down are ‘fake,’ it becomes difficult to identify the real people responsible. Until we identify the people who are spreading such objectionable content, we will not be able to stop them," the minister said.
The two-day workshop titled "Digital Bangladesh: Focusing on cybercrime, safe internet and broadband" will conclude at Le Meridian hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday.
