This summer has not only made outdoor activities challenging but has also caused people to sweat profusely even indoors.

Sweating plays a crucial role in regulating body temperature and cooling us down by absorbing moisture.

However, excessive sweating can lead to discomfort. Those experiencing hyperhidrosis may sweat more than necessary, resulting in odour and the rapid deterioration of certain clothing items.

Here is how we can reduce sweating:

  • Use antiperspirant before bed, as it blocks the glands through which sweat is released, helping reduce sweating. It is still produced from the glands but does not reach the surface.
  • Wear breathable clothing. Choosing a light-coloured dress helps reflect the sun's heat rather than absorbing it.So white or light-coloured clothing can keep the body stay cool and reduce sweating.
  • Put on loose clothing made from lightweight fabrics.
  • Use cosmetics that contain aluminium chloride. They help reduce sweating.
  • Avoid certain foods, such as spicy food, and excessive caffeine intake to prevent excessive sweating.
  • Always keep armpits clean. Wash the area daily with soap to remove bacteria and odour.
  • Brush away unwanted hair regularly.
  • Use baby powder on areas of the body that sweat excessively.
  • Take 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix it with enough water to make a paste. This paste will relieve you from excessive sweat and odour. Besides, you can mix any essential oil of your choice with baking soda and use it as a deodorant.
  • Staying hydrated will keep the body temperature normal and sweat less.
  • Eat more calcium-rich foods such as dairy products.
  • Consume vegetables, fruits, nuts, oats, green tea and sweet potatoes. These foods help reduce sweating.
  • You can do yoga or meditation to reduce anxiety. Because we sweat more due to stress. But one should avoid workouts during peak sun hours.
  • Wear sandals when possible or shoes made of natural materials that allow proper ventilation. Also, allow shoes to dry completely before each use.
  • If you are sweating excessively constantly, it may be time to consult a doctor.
