Azgari Hasin, the CEO of Modern Herbal Group and Bangladesh operations for Sabina Thailand, as well as the founder and managing director of Madison Oliver company, has been practicing yoga for over 13 years. Doing wellness retreats is her way of giving back to the community and helping people find their balance in a fast paced, hectic world.

This year, she has organized the Weekend Health Retreat, which will be held on September 20 and 21 at Chuti Resort in Gazipur. Suitable for people of all fitness levels and age groups, this retreat is for anyone who wants to learn how to take care of their own health and fitness, while having a fun and relaxing time.

“This is the second year I am doing this Weekend Health Retreat. The participants from last year gave us really good feedback and expressed how the retreat was relaxing, enjoyable and a great way to improve their overall health and wellbeing. So we decided to do it again this year. I decided on Chuti Resort this time because of its high security and open beautiful space,” informed Azgari.

The event will offer two days full of exercises, workshops, discussions and classes this year, that are designed to help your mind, body and spirit. People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to attend the event, and the instructors will modify all exercises based on the fitness levels of the participants.

“This year, we have partnered with Yasmin Karachiwala’s Body Image Dhaka, which will send in four expert trainers from India to host the Pilates classes,” added Hasin. The retreat will also include a fire and dance workshop by the beautiful ladies of NAUR, water aerobics, Buddy Bootcamp class combined with interpersonal relationship improvement workshop, meditation classes outdoors in nature focusing on forgiveness and gratitude, weight-loss hypnosis meditation session by MindO, workshops on understanding personal nutrition, portion control and calories, living a disease preventative lifestyle with detoxing and intermittent fasting and bio-hacking for longevity, mental focus and energy.

When asked how effective these exercises will be in weight loss and preventing future illnesses, Azgari went on to say, “Most diseases that we see now are actually called diseases of affluence and lifestyle diseases. This means that they can be avoided or kept under control through modification of the food we ingest and the level of physical activity we perform.”

At the Weekend Health Retreat, participants will be taught how to make better nutritional choices and physical activities which they can continue doing practically once they leave the resort.

“My passion in life is to help people make better health choices. I will continue to do so five years, ten years or twenty years down the line through weekend retreats, seminars and using the products that my companies manufacture,” said Azgari.

Discussing age reversal and bio hacking, she informed, “Bio hacking is the process of making changes to your lifestyle, using science, biology, and self-experimentation to take control of and upgrade your body, mind, and life to feel your best. A sector of bio hacking is Nutrigenomics, which focuses on how the food you eat interacts with your genes. At the Weekend Health Retreat we will talk about practical ways in which you can bio hack Nutrigenomics in great details.”

The most simple way to maintain personal nutrition according to Azgari, is to educate yourself about the nutrients your body needs and their quantities. Proper portion control and calorie estimation is essential.

Avoiding poor quality fats like vegetable oil is more important than avoiding sugar, the fitness instructor says. One can burn off sugar by exercising, but fats coming from oils make up the cell lining in the entire body, so it’s far more important to pay better attention to the quality of fats we ingest.
