Rebecca Momin, a lawmaker from the Netrokona-4 constituency, passed away on Tuesday. She was 76.
She breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Dhaka's Square Hospital around 4:30am, said a family member of the late lawmaker, Mohammad Tofail Ahmed.
Rebecca Momin was suffering from kidney problems and old age complications for a long time.
She is survived by a daughter, relatives, numerous fans and well-wishers,
The first namaz-e-janaza of the late lawmaker will be held at Baitul Aman Jame Masjid in Dhanmondi at 10am and the second namaz-e-janaza is set to be held at 6pm in Mohanganj upazila in Netrokona.
Rebecca Momin will be buried there next to her husband's grave.
Rebecca Momin was born on May 15, 1947, in Netrokona. She was elected to parliament in January 2009 general elections as a candidate of the Awami League from Netrokona-4,
She was re-elected to parliament in January 2014 general elections and was one of 17 women elected to Parliament that year.
Rebecca Momin was also the chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. She was one of the organizers of the Liberation War, a former presidium member of the Awami League and the wife of former food minister Abdul Momin.
She has donated most of the family property to the welfare of people in the area.
