Veteran journalist Zahiduzzaman Faruk has died of cancer.
The 72-year-old breathed his last at around 2:30pm on Thursday while undergoing treatment at his Dhaka residence.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, daughter, relatives a host of well-wishers.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Zahiduzzaman, also a managing committee member of the National Press Club.
In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The Dainik Orthoniti editor was also a member of Dhaka Reporters Unity and Economic Reporters Forum.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the National Press Club premises after Asr prayers.
