The US Ambassador spent a wonderful day with kids at JAAGO school

Earl R Miller, the US Ambassador visited the Banani school branch of JAAGO Foundation on April 29. It is one of the branches situated in one of the largest slums of the country located in the Korail area of Banani, Dhaka.

The founder of JAAGO Foundation, Korvi Rakshand invited the team of US Embassy to visit and spend a day with the children, volunteers, and staffs of the Banani school branch. The US Ambassador Earl R Miller came to visit the school along with Merrie Blocker, Public Diplomacy Officer, Erné Guzman, Ambassador’s Office Manager, and Faroha Suhrawardy, Senior Program Advisor, Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy, Dhaka.

The envoy was warmly welcomed by the children and they spent quality time with the students. The Ambassador -- Miller had a very good interaction with the children of Korail slum. He was very interested in listening to the children’s dreams and also asked about their feelings and future plans. He donated some books to the school’s library and happily played the character of a storyteller with the children through reading a storybook named Iqbal and His Ingenious Idea. After that, he explored the library, classrooms, and discussed science projects with the teachers.

During this visit, he also connected live with JAAGO’s Gaibandha school through the Digital School process to meet the children and teachers and learn more about the Digital School program. He spoke to the teachers about the improvement of quality education. The team was highly impressed with the standard education system and JAAGO’s Digital School program, which has been recognized by UNESCO. Overall, it was a well-spent day for the JAAGO family with the team of the US Embassy.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the volunteers of JAAGO Foundation as well to meet the Ambassador and exchange a few words with him. He was eager to know about achievements on voluntary activities that the Youth Wing of JAAGO, Volunteer for Bangladesh has been doing.

JAAGO Foundation is a civil society organization with a mission to break the cycle of poverty through empowering communities and ensuring equal opportunities, social justice, and improved quality of life. Now, JAAGO Foundation is operating 12 online schools all over the country to provide free of cost quality education to 13,000 children under various programs, to eliminate poverty and for the development of youth.
