Mohammad Idris, the designer of the national emblem of Bangladesh, passed away on Saturday.
The 87 year old Idris suffered a heart attack at his Basabo residence in the morning and died at a city hospital around 9:30am, reports UNB citing family members.
He left behind a daughter and son and host of relatives.
He will be buried at his birthplace, Munshipara of Rangpur district.
Mohammad Idris was a lifetime member of Bangla Academy and founding member of Chhayanaut Cultural Center. His design of envelop and stamp were selected by the government for the postal department in 1972.
After finishing his studies at the Art College, he had joined the Pakistan Observer. In 1960, he joined the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation, and retired in 1991.
