Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity Secretary General Mozammel Haque Chowdhury has urged the transport workers to call off their nationwide strike to end public distress.
He made the request in a statement issued on Monday, reports UNB.
"People have become hostage to a group of miscreants in the name of transport workers, and are being harassed by them. In this situation, the role of the law enforcement agencies as silent spectators is also frustrating," the statement said.

Mozammel Haque urged the transport workers to resolve the matter through talks with the concerned authorities.
In his statement, he mentioned that Bangladesh Road Transport Federation, which has enforced the strike, was a member of the Road Transport Act 2018 formulation committee.
People continued to suffer as the countrywide transport strike demanding amendments to the recently passed Road Transport Act entered the second day on Monday.
