Bangladeshi model and actor Zakia Bari Mamo will star in Jaaz Multimedia’s upcoming film “Dohon.” She has been recently spotted at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, working with the shooting crew of “Dohon.”

Jaaz Multimedia, the film’s production company, previously declared that they will start shooting the film from June 6 in Uttara and would not disclose the new cast member until then.

At first, model and actor Azmeri Haque Badhon signed for the same role but left the project saying the sudden change of production dates for the film clashed with other projects she had already signed up for. Then actor Dilara Hanif Purnima signed up for the role and later on she also left the film complaining about bad press.

After leaving the project, Purnima said the news of her return to the big screen and replacing Badhon for the role was portrayed in the media negatively.

“When we make a film, we may talk to a lot of people. We can share the story with a lot of people. That does not mean the person is on board,” director Raihan Rafi told Showtime.

“Badhon signed up to act on the film, but for a personal reason she had to forfeit…she made a comeback after a long break. During that time, her family supported her. So Badhon is now giving them the priority,” he said.

“Then the name that was publicized was Purnima. We shared the story with her. We didn’t enter any contract. A lot of portals published that Purnima will join the cast. Then they published that she dropped out. That wasn’t the case.”

Directed by Raihan Rafi, the film will also feature Pujja Cherry, Siam Ahmed, and Rituraj in the lead roles. Claimed to be inspired by true events, the film hasn’t officially declared any possible release date yet.

The announcement of this film took place at a star-studded event in Dhaka on April 30.
