An event in memory of Brac founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed was held on the first day of the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest on Thursday.
The program titled “In Memoriam: Sir Fazle Hasan Abed” was held at the AKSB Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
Dhaka Lit Fest Director Sadaf Saaz moderated it and Brac Enterprises Managing Director Tamara Hasan Abed and Brac International Executive Director Shameran Abed participated in it.
Tamara Abed and Shameran Abed reminisced about their father in the discussion. Tamara Abed also recited Sir Abed's favorite poem for the audience.
They said that before his death, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed donated for Dhaka Lit Fest.
With that money, Tamara and Shameran have taken the initiative to form the “Dhaka Lit Fest Trust.”
They said the trust will be formed to ensure the continuation of the Dhaka Lit Fest.
Sadaf Saaz later also called Sir Fazle Hasan Abed's son-in-law Asif Saleh, executive director of Brac, and biographer Scott MacMillan on stage.
Macmillan's book “Hope Over Fate: Fazle Hasan Abed and the Science of Ending Global Poverty” was launched on Thursday at the Dhaka Lit Fest.
