The market opened higher in the morning, but later witnessed topsy-turvey trading throughout the session as profit took place mainly on financial and energy stocks.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange benchmark index DSEX lost only about 7 points or 0.2% to settle at 4,924.
The blue chip DS30 index dropped 5 points to 1,791 and the DSE Shariah Index DSES saw a fractional fall of 0.8 points to 1,166.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange selective category index, CSCX, was down over 16 points to 9,188.
The volume of trade declined sharply as the DSE turnover stood at Tk7,44 crore, slumping more than 20% compared to preceding session.
Investors booked modestly on power, non-banking financial institutions, engineering and banks.
Slight rally in food & allied, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications kept the market afloat.
Out of 326 issues traded, 104 gained, 171 declined and 51 remained unchanged.
Bangladesh Building Systems continued to remain favourite as it was the highest traded share for the third consecutive session.
