Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday said his ministry would not approve setting up of any new factory unless it is being set up in any exclusive industrial zones. He, however, assured of giving due importance to the proposals of setting up industrial zones.
He was addressing a press briefing after attending a joint session of commerce and industries ministries on the second day of the three-day deputy commissioners’ conference in the capital.
Amu asked the deputy commissioners to work sincerely to build planned industrial zones in their respective areas, considering the potentials of respective industries. “The government will provide all kinds of assistance, including industrial plots and bank loans.”
He further said the deputy commissioners were asked to reallocate the unused land under the industrial zones of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) to new entrepreneurs in order to ensure proper use of the land.
“There are plots in BSCIC areas in different districts that were allotted to them earlier, which still remain unused. The deputy commissioners have been asked to cancel the allotments and reallocate the plots to new entrepreneurs,” he said.
