South Korea is going to provide $8.5 million grant to strengthen the capacity of vocational training
Economic Relations Division and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed an agreement in this regard yesterday, said a press release.
Under this agreement, KOICA will provide the amount as grant aid for Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Rajshahi to establish a new academic building, a dormitory and remodel the existing workshops.
Korea will also provide necessary training equipment, invite 18 instructors and six officers for training in Korea, dispatch Korean experts for technical guidance for six trades, organise training for 360 TTC instructors.
“The purpose of the agreement is to support the national initiative of Bangladesh government to strengthen the capacity of vocational training by increasing the quality of vocational education under a project titled “Capacity Development Program of TTC, Rajshahi,” said the press release.
Kim Jihoon, country director of KOICA Bangladesh office, Mohammed Asif-uz-Zaman, Additional Secretary of ERD, and Hazrat Ali, additional secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
This four-year project will be jointly implemented by KOICA and the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET).
