As part of its CSR initiatives, NCC Bank has provided a one-time grant of Tk1.5 crore to the Aparajito 24 Foundation to support the medical treatment and economic self-reliance of individuals severely injured during the July 2024 uprising.
Through this assistance, 50 people who were critically affected by the July 24 uprising will be brought under rehabilitation programs.
Each beneficiary will receive support of up to Tk3 lakh.
The fund will be utilized for a combination of medical treatment and equipment, coordination for employment opportunities, provision of materials for income-generating activities, supervision of tree plantation initiatives, and direct financial assistance, as required.
The primary objective is to rehabilitate the affected individuals and make them self-sufficient by creating sustainable income opportunities.
Recently, at an event organized at NCC Bank's head office, NCC Bank chairman Md Nurun Newaz Salim handed over a check for Tk1.5 crore to Saiful Islam, vice president of Aparajito 24 Foundation.
Present on the occasion were NCC Bank vice chairman Engr Abdus Salam, managing director M Shamsul Arefin, and company secretary (current charge) Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, along with Aparajito 24 Foundation's general secretary Dr M Mustajib Haider, Shahriar Akter Haque, program coordinator Abdullah As Sakib, and program officer Tasmia Hoque Mowsomi.
Aparajito 24 Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit, and non-political organization.
The foundation is working with various institutions, including the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (Blast), Drik, Vision Eye Hospital, Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and the Vocational Training Center for the Blind, to rebuild the lives of affected individuals and their families.
NCC Bank chairman Md Nurun Newaz Salim said: "Many of those affected during the July 2024 uprising are still facing challenges in their lives and livelihoods. Our goal with this assistance is to help them achieve economic self-reliance and rebuild their lives with dignity."
