Md Siddiqur Rahman, deputy managing director & chief operating officer of Standard Bank PLC, has taken charge as acting managing director.
Rahman joined the Shariah-based bank as DMD in August 2023 and has played a pivotal role in strengthening its Shariah-based framework, operational efficiency and risk management practices.
Prior to Standard Bank, he served as deputy managing director, CRO & CAMLCO of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC.
He has made a significant contribution to the bank’s business growth and overall development during his 31 years long career in Islami Bank Bangladesh.
Rahman has been accredited by Paris-based ICC and UK-based IFS as a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) in International Trade Finance.
With more than three decades of experience in Islamic banking, Rahman obtained Certified Shari`ah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) fellowship from Bahrain-based AAOIFI.
He completed his BSS & MSS in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka.
Later he completed Master of Business Administration (MBA).
To further enhance his professional skill, he has completed DAIBB from Institute of Bankers Bangladesh and achieved a Diploma in Islamic Banking (DIB) from IBTRA.
He visited various countries, including the US, Canada, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the UAE to attend professional training, seminars and conferences.
