Apollo Hospitals, Teynampet, Chennai, in collaboration with Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi, Dhaka (licensed by JMI Specialized Hospital PLC), organized an International Continuing Medical Education (CME) program for doctors.

The initiative aimed to facilitate advanced knowledge sharing and foster professional development in specialized cancer care.

The day commenced with an awareness rally and a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed globally throughout October.

Approximately 100 Bangladeshi medical students, postgraduate residents, and specialist consultants attended the program to exchange clinical insights with leading international experts in medical oncology, gastroenterology, gynecology, and breast oncoplastic surgery.

Held at the premises of Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi, the CME featured two key specialized sessions: “Beyond Chemotherapy: The Evolving Role of Immunotherapy and Targeted Therapy in Breast, Lung, and Colorectal Cancer” and “Evolving Paradigms in the Management of Breast Cancer.”

The keynote presentations were delivered by Dr Niranjan Vijayaraghavan, an experienced medical oncologist at Apollo Hospitals, Teynampet, Chennai, and Dr Usha Gautam Mehta, renowned specialist in gastroenterology, gynecology, and breast oncology.

Representing Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi, Dr Ali Nafisa, a leading oncoplastic and breast surgeon, also delivered insightful remarks highlighting the critical importance of specialized breast care and timely cancer awareness.

The program was conducted under the leadership of Dr Tamjeed Alam, CEO of Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi.

The event was attended by Ragil Raghunath, deputy general manager (DGM) of International Business, representing Apollo Hospitals, Teynampet, Chennai.

Also representing Apollo Clinic, Dhanmondi, were adviser Mosiur Rahman Kamal; directors Dr Saiful Islam and Dr Adnan Ahmed; director of Medical Services Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr Shafiqul Islam; and chief operating officer (COO) Md Papul Mia.

This CME program further strengthens the growing strategic collaboration between JMI Specialized Hospital PLC, one of Bangladesh's premier healthcare providers, and the Apollo Hospitals Group, a globally renowned South Asian healthcare network operating more than 76 hospitals and 700+ clinics across multiple countries.

The partnership aims to provide Bangladeshi patients with reliable, world-class healthcare services locally at an affordable cost—significantly reducing the need to seek treatment abroad, advancing the country's healthcare ecosystem, and positioning Bangladesh as an emerging destination for medical tourism.

During the event, Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi highlighted several of its key clinical achievements to date, including serving more than 22,000 outpatients (OPD), managing over 2,500 inpatient (IPD) cases, and successfully performing more than 1,000 surgical procedures.

Demonstrating its uncompromising commitment to patient safety and quality care, the clinic proudly reported a surgical site infection (SSI) rate of less than 1%.
