A twelve-member delegation from the Rural Energy Agency (REA), an agency under the Ministry of Energy of the United Republic of Tanzania, visited Bangladesh on September 13-17 on an experience-sharing and benchmarking mission.
As part of the visit, the delegation called on Idcol on September 15-16.
Idcol has a long-standing association with the Rural Energy Agency, having earlier supported the Agency in the scoping and establishment of Tanzania’s Renewable Energy Investment Facility under assignments financed by the African Development Bank.
During the visit, Idcol shared its experience in renewable energy financing mechanisms, solar energy programs, institutional arrangements, public-private partnerships, and project appraisal and monitoring, with a view to strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh and Tanzania in the energy sector.
On September 15, the delegation attended a full day of in-house presentations at Idcol, and Idcol’s senior management joined the visiting team for a working lunch.
On September 16, Idcol facilitated field visits to Idcol-financed renewable energy projects at different places of Chuadanga and Kushtia.
Idcol also facilitated meetings for the delegation with the Government and non-government stakeholders including chairman, Idcol and secretary, Economic Relations Division Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky.
The delegation is led by Amb. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jacob Gidion Kingu, chairman of the REA Board, and includes Engr Hassan Seif Saidy Al Hinai, director general of REA, along with members of the board and senior officials of the agency.
