Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman has called for concerted efforts to further strengthen the presence of Bangladeshi brands like Walton in the global market.

He said Walton has been doing remarkable work in Bangladesh’s hi-tech industry. By manufacturing international-standard technology products, the company reduced the country’s import dependency and saved a significant amount of foreign currency. At the same time, Walton is contributing to foreign currency earnings by exporting its products to different countries across the world.

The Ambassador made the remarks as the chief guest at a special program of Walton Plaza, Bangladesh’s leading sales and service provider of electronics and technology products, titled ‘Tushar Jatra’, held on Saturday (September 19) at The Soaltee in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Among others, SM Mahbubul Alam, managing director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and managing partner of Walton Plaza; Pranil Thapa, chairman of Nepal’s renowned Thapa Business Group; Pranimesh Thapa, director of Thapa Business Group; and senior officials of Walton attended the program.

Ambassador Md Shafiqur Rahman said: “Walton is doing remarkable work in Bangladesh’s hi-tech sector. The quality of Walton’s locally manufactured hi-tech products is top-notch. With these products, Walton is competing with other international brands in the global market and establishing a strong position. This is a matter of great pride for the people of Bangladesh.”

He further said that the local production of high-quality hi-tech products is reducing Bangladesh’s dependence on imports and saving a substantial amount of foreign currency. At the same time, Walton is earning foreign currency by exporting technology products to different countries around the world.

“Bangladeshi brands like Walton should be promoted more extensively in the international market. Bangladeshi ambassadors serving in different countries will also play a role in expanding the global market for local brands through economic diplomacy,” he added.

SM Mahbubul Alam, managing director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and managing partner of Walton Plaza, said Nepal is a highly important market for Walton. The company is working to make international-standard technology products available to Nepali consumers at affordable prices, just as it does in Bangladesh. Walton aims to further expand its operations in Nepal by building long-term relationships and mutual trust with local business partners.

Pranimesh Thapa, director of Thapa Business Group, said: “We are proud to have been part of Walton’s journey in Nepal for more than eight years. Thapa Business Group is committed to further expanding Walton’s presence across Nepal through innovative and quality products. We will continue working with our business partners to provide better services to customers and establish Walton as one of Nepal’s leading technology product brands.”

Md Rayhan, managing director of Walton Plaza, provided important guidelines to Walton Plaza officials, particularly on modern marketing and sales management.

Mofizur Rahman Jakir, deputy managing director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, and MM Nazmul Hasan, head of sales at Walton Plaza, also spoke at the program.

The event was conducted by Amin Khan, senior executive director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and noted film actor. It also featured a Nepal tour video presentation, raffle draw and cultural performances.
