Daffodil International University and Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA) jointly organized the first “Erasmus & Open Day” of 2026 in Bangladesh.
Teachers and students from various universities of the country, Erasmus alumni, education-related individuals, and more than 650 students and academicians from various universities including Daffodil International University participated in the event.
Organized with the theme ‘Learn, Explore and Go to Europe!’, the main objective of the event was to inform the participants about the various facilities and benefits of the Erasmus Plus program.
Besides, it also aimed to further strengthen higher education cooperation between Bangladesh and Europe.
The event was graced by the presence of special guests, including Jurat Smalskyte Marville, counsellor and team leader of the education, human development and public finance management department of the Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, and Jasmine Parveen, director of the International Cooperation Department and Erasmus and National Focal Point of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
The event was presided over by Prof MR Kabir, vice chancellor of Daffodil International University.
The welcome address was delivered by Md Syed Raihan-ul-Islam, deputy director of the international affairs department of the university.
The keynote address of the event was presented by Md Ashiqur Rahman, regional manager for Asia, Central Support Program of the Erasmus and National Focal Points Network and former president of the Erasmus Mundus Association.
He spoke on the topic “Erasmus Plus for Interregional Development in Education, Culture and Economy.”
Later, a panel discussion was held with the participation of the European Union delegation, Erasmus Plus experts and former beneficiaries of the Erasmus Joint Masters, Erasmus SmartLink and International Credit Mobility programs.
The daylong event included a practical workshop on Erasmus Plus scholarships, international student exchange (mobility) and the application process.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to exchange views and network with Erasmus and alumni through the ‘EMA Meet and Greet’ session.
The organizers said that this event will help to further strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions in Bangladesh and Europe.
At the same time, it will play an important role in increasing awareness about Erasmus and its programs, international networking, knowledge exchange and expanding intercultural cooperation.
