The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced gold prices in the local market by up to Tk5,482 per bhori, citing a decline in the price of pure gold in the domestic market.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Bajus said the revised rates would come into effect from 10am.
Under the new pricing structure, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk229,373 per bhori (11.664 grams), down from Tk234,855.
The price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk218,933 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk187,674. Gold produced under the traditional method has been priced at Tk152,857 per bhori.
The latest adjustment comes days after Bajus reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk3,266 per bhori on June 3.
According to Bajus, gold prices have been adjusted 71 times so far this year, with prices increasing on 37 occasions and decreasing 34 times.
Silver prices have also been reduced.
The price of 22-carat silver has been cut by Tk408 per bhori to Tk5,249. Under the revised rates, 21-carat silver will be sold at Tk4,957 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk4,257, and traditional silver at Tk3,208.
Bajus said silver prices have been revised 42 times this year, including 22 increases and 20 decreases.
