Gold prices in the domestic market have risen again ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, with the price of 22-carat gold increasing by Tk2,158 per bhori.
Following the latest adjustment by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus), the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk238,121.
Bajus announced the new rates in a notification issued on Monday, saying the revised prices came into effect from 10am.
According to the new rates, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk227,331 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been priced at Tk194,847 per bhori. Traditional-method gold will be sold at Tk158,689 per bhori.
Bajus said the prices were revised due to an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market.
Earlier, the association had reduced gold prices by the same amount last Saturday. However, the prices were raised again within two days.
So far this year, Bajus has adjusted gold prices 69 times in the local market. Of those, prices were increased 37 times and reduced 32 times.
